Major mental health issues

Mental illness can afflict any person in the world, leading to changes in behaviour, emotion, mood and thinking. There are currently more than 200 classified forms of mental illness.

  • Schizophrenia & Psychosis - Schizophrenia usually appears in early adulthood. Sufferers experience delusions, hallucinations, trouble with thinking and concentration, and it may seem like they have lost touch with reality. Psychosis on the other hand is a symptom of schizophrenia and not an actual illness.
  • OCD/Obsessional disorders - Obsessional disorders are anxiety disorders, and they include recurring thoughts (obsessions) and behaviors (compulsions).
  • Bipolar mood disorders - Formerly known as manic depression, this brain illness causes unexpected and extreme mood changes.
